Gardening

I've been an avid gardener since I was in gradeschool. My parents had the entire backyard in vegetables, with roses, camillias and various bulbs in the front. When I first moved to Seattle, having a garden was one of the things I missed most. My house has a small yard, but the soil is heavy clay, loaded with rocks and old concrete. Then I discovered the The Seattle P-Patch(628-0264) This program fosters City Gardens, available to everybody. If you love gardening, it's a wonderful opportunity to meet other Down-to-Earth People, with interests similar to your own. For a small yearly fee you get a plot of land, water supply, good earth, and lots of friendly people. There are Master Gardeners and Master Composters on site to help, and Spring and Fall get-togethers to share ideas, info, the fruits of our labors, and just have a good time. P-Patch also runs the Seattle Lettuce-Link, which provides tons of fresh produce each year for local food banks.
