Background

Electricity first demanded my full attention when I was 2 or 3 and stuck a fork in a wall socket.
For decades I played standard keyboards and popular genres. I really got tired of the usual instrument sounds. Early on I got to use a Moog console (splicing 1/4" tape, anyone?), then enjoyed programming the SID chip. I enjoyed 80s ambient but had no way to make it. Once I got my hands on hardware synths and MUSIC-N programs (like CSound), I never looked back.

Creating

I enjoy creating and using new timbres with a wide variety of software & plug-ins. A lot of times I start with MIDI, either played or generative.

Usually I let the sounds decide the content, because I don't like being restricted to particular genres. The result is often atmospheric. But sometimes I'll play old styles with new sounds -- a lot of fun too.

I enjoy listening to almost everything from Gregorian to Goodman to Guthrie to Gamelan to Grime.
