I am a veterinarian practicing small animal medicine and surgery in Seattle, Washington. I work part time in local clinics, and I do veterinary housecalls in Seattle part-time. I see healthy pets for exam or vaccinations, as well as ill or injured pets for those visits that do not require hospitalization, xrays or gas anesthesia. As with many house call vets, many of my home visits are for pet euthanasias. I do these with mature compassion and skill. In the 1980's, I was a biomedical research engineer. I still consult on medical instrumentation projects. I enjoy working on Macintoshes, unix systems and the odd PC. Since 1995 I've helped run a veterinary communication service on the Internet. For the last few years, I've been a board member of the Seattle-King County Veterinary Medical Association. I have done volunteer work through Seattle Community Network or the Seattle Low Income Housing Institute helping to reduce the "digital divide". I support the Doney Memorial Clinic providing veterinary care for those unable to acquire traditional clinic care. I am also a member of a human subject research Institutional Review Board, WIRB. I like to sail, XC ski, bike and move about in other less-noisy ways. In 2007, I learned to fly single engine airplanes, definitely noisy! I love the way the Internet expands my continuing veterinary education and allows me to meet many interesting people I'd miss knowing otherwise.
