Hands-on math!

Appropriate Students for this Program

This program is not appropriate for all students, not even all 5th and 6th graders. An unmotivated 5th grader that is struggling with standard 5th grade math is not a candidate for this program. In fact, dragging such a kid through this program may actually cause damage, turning the kid off to math permanently! Here is a list of appropriate audiences for this program:

  • Motivated above average 4th graders who are bored with standard 4th grade math, know their fractions and decimals, and have parental support
  • Average and above 5th and 6th graders who have parental support and want to do this
  • 7th thru 12th graders who have holes in their math understanding. A parent or coach can select parts of this program (many are not sequential) to fill in those holes. For example the lesson on Cartesian coordinates can be taught stand-alone.
  • Adults who have a desire to 'bone up' on their math and may want to actually coach this program! Such an adult should be able to work through this program or parts thereof unsupervised.
We were actually contacted by a Chinese college professor who was using our program as a remedial math class for non-STEM major college students!
