Parallelogram

A parallelogram is a 4-sided figure, a quadrilateral, in which the opposite sides are parallel:

A diamond shape is a parallelogram. Squares and rectangles are special kinds of parallelograms.
The area of a parallelogram is the same as a rectangle: base X height. The difference is the height is not one of the sides:
