  2. (15 min) Discuss solving 2 equations.
    • Before class, put the following problem on the board:
      From the 2012 Math Olympiad:
      There were 36 heads and 104 legs in a group of horses and riders.
      How many riders were in the group?
      Let H stand for the number of horses
      Let R stand for the number of riders.
    • Hand out the "Solving 2 Equations" sheet
    • Follow the discussion in the handout
    • Have the students solve the problem in the handout
    • Have a student come to the board and solve the problem on the board with the help of other students.
