| (Not)Lupin! Abstract Sometimes things just cry out to be made. They taunt you, ever remaining on the edge of your vision, and you can't sleep until you bring them into glorious fruition. This video isn't one of those. But it was still really fun to make. Mad props to EK for involuntary donation of the song. Caution! Rapid beat-matching ahead! | I'll Probably Survive Abstract After the heady success(?) of Decades of Legend, I knew I had to do something for next year. Fortune smiled as it dropped the entire Gatekeepers series as unsubbed DivX episodes into my lap(care of a friend's private FTP server). Add to this The Presidents Of The USA's "Mach 5" that I'd been repeatedly listening to, stir in some private time in the shower to think, and four months later, a finalist video at AX '01 pops out. Mostly I wanted to focus on Shun's driving antics, and the rest of the footage just came along for the ride. I'd thought that the noticeable DivX artifacts would hurt its chances, but it ended up going to AX and being fairly well received(most of the comments I heard later were "makes me want to watch Gatekeepers now"). | Decades Of Legend Abstract One afternoon I was browsing through some of my anime music videos(possibly Final Countdown or Fatal Fury/Chumbawomba), when I had a thought: why hadn't anybody done something with shmups? After all, the footage was there; almost every shooter released on the PSX has at least a minute of CG. The idea stewed in my head for a few months, with no outlet. With a month remaining until Sakura-Con, the Pacific Northwest's major anime convention, I discovered a freeware non-linear video editor that could do what I wanted. I posted a question of "what song should I use?" to the Shmups message board, and the general response was "Crystal Method". Setting out to the store on a stormy Wednesday night, I retrieved "Vegas", and the race for completion was on...
