Sol Bianca in Flight

A Small Sol Bianca Page

Space...the pirate frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Sol Bianca. Its unending mission: to explore new sources of wealth...to seek out and rob foolish cargo ships. To boldly steal what no one else has stolen before!

whoosh!

daah dah, dah dah dah dah daahh....

Welcome! You've found(or stumbled into) a site devoted to one of the better, yet mostly overlooked, sci-fi OVA's to come out of AIC...Sol Bianca. Voted best OVA at the 1993 Anime Expo, Sol Bianca is probably best des cribed by the Anime Primer as "sort of like a cross between BUBBLEGUM CRISIS (from the same studio, Artmic) and BLAKE'S 7." (unsurprising, since the director, Katsuji Akiyama, worked on Bubblegum Crisis as well)
For those of you who have no clue what those two series are, Sol Bianca is best described as the story of five female space pirates, and their amazing transdimensional starship(called the Sol Bianca, see.). Two episodes are available from ADVision, both lasting about 45 min. Sadly, due to lack of popularity, there was no third episode even though a large part of the second episode was a tie-in for a third.
So, you ask, what else is in this-here web site? Glad you asked.

NewsFlash! Mischa Campen wrote in to say that the new SB OAV series is indeed still in production, and almost done, at AIC. Screen shots should be up as soon as I get them from him.

Update! And here they are, straight from AX! : ax_sb1.jpg(with Feb and Mei, and ax_sb2.jpg.
These look...interesting, to say the least. Mei looks a bit more waifish, while Janny looks like she's on steroids. They seem to have kept the "June's part of the ship" bit from SB2 as well..and what's with Feb's glasses? (but at least she's still got her wine! ^_^) Anyone willing to translate the Japanese blurbs next to each character?

2-22:The transition to frames is done, along with a retread of the image section and various other bits. The straight text version has, for the minute, been disabled--if there are people out there that really really want it back, send me mail and I'll be happy to. Happy surfing!

2-16: Well, at long last, it's time for the massive site-update. Observant surfers may have noticed the different format of the cast and Police Data pages, this is in preparation for the transfer to a framed site. Yes, I know, frames can be horrible, but I've come to the conclusion that the site, especially the image and Cast sections would really benefit. So keep an eye on these pages, as soon as I get a nice afternoon, I'll be on them. Plus I decided to put these news/updates on the main page instead of keeping them on the Credits page.
