26 March 2003: "Global Reach II"
Holy cow. I come back to my machine to find I've been mentioned by Glenn Reynolds—the "InstaPundit"—and The Agonist as well as Counterpoint, and traffic has tripled over last Sunday's high point (after Diane linked to me). I'm starting to feel like a war profiteer somehow.
As son as I finish this post, I'm installing one of those nifty guestmaps, because I've racked up five more countries in my collection: Belgium, France, Russia, Switzerland and Yugoslavia (I should probably say "Serbia and Montenegro" now, shouldn't I? Anyway, Хеј Славени!)
Speaking of Russia, check out the Russian WarBlog: Gulf War II; its editor, Yaroslav, asked very politely if I'd give it a mention. I have to admit I don't agree with most of its content, but it never hurts to hear differing perspectives (and the Photoshopped pic of "Mr. Pushkin" is worth the visit alone). If there's one thing Yaroslav's team has got right, it's that this war has divided the world, and not for the better. I find that my linking policy (which, I admit, is one of quid pro quo) has caused me to link overwhelmingly to people whose political perspective, overall, I do not share (you know that Which Founding Father are you? quiz? I got Alexander Hamilton); even where the war is concerned, I probably support it for very different reasons than they do. I'd love to find some bloggers, whose politics I agree with in general, but the chances are right now they're against this war, and probably for what (I would consider to be) the wrong reasons.
Anyway, check out Russian WarBlog and get a perspective from Moscow; not Soviet, very Russian.
And if you're in for an American perspective from London, check out Au Currant, written by the very lovely Jackie D (Jackie also has an online journal, though it's become a casualty of war lately). Jackie is the person who told me I should get blog in the first place, so if you enjoy my stuff, well, credit where credit is due. (I've commented privately that Jackie should collaborate with the VodkaPundit and produce "Absolut au Currant." Thank you, I'll be here all week, try the veal!)
