Follw-up on the Klingon interpreter story:
Marbel in the Netherlands sent me the link to this piece, which points out that the procurement people at Multnomah County decided to find out, for a laugh, whether they could justify hiring a Klingon interpreter in the extremely hypothetical case they ever needed one. Unfortunately, somewhere between the story as it appeared in the Oregonian and the AP version, all indications that this was done entirely tongue-in-cheek were removed from the story, creating a rather skewed impression of the story.

It's not the first time I've found stories off the AP wire to do this, and I suppose I should have bothered to follow it up, but then again, I'm not outraged by the idea of a Klingon interpreter. There's as much point to Klingon as there is to Esperanto, probably more.
