This is pretty soon after we adopted our four Dutch ferrets. Farah was the largest one at first. Aw, how cute! Look at that snowy white head he had back then! Right away, this little guy liked to take things apart. We named him Farah after an Iranian goldsmith in Abu Dhabi! Jurjen had a gold ferret pendant made for me when he was in Abu Dhabi visiting his parents, a few months after we started dating. Best present ever. It was made with beautiful workmanship: brushed to give a furry look, and a tiny diamond eye. So the name commemorates the ferret's interest in how things work, and of the necklace.

Farah on the right, Carnegie on the left, napping. Farah has his tongue sticking out, which was typical and always amusing.

Farah on the right, Vasilissa (aka V) on the left. All four of these ferrets are siblings, and you can really see the resemblence here. V will probably be looking for Farah for a while, they were very close.

Farah tended to bite, hence the gloves. When it first was happening he bit really hard, but later he mellowed out. He still did it, but it was just a nip. We were so delighted that he learned other ways to communicate with us (like asking for a treat by rooing up on his hind legs).

Still in the Hague, the ferrets play with the dirty dishes. Farah really liked doing that, in the Netherlands and in the States.

This is in the States, Farah demonstrating how one asks for a treat. One of the most perfect pictures we ever took of him. We both use this as computer wallpaper from time to time, and I printed up address labels with this image cropped down.

This is my joke Photoshop tattoo after Farah was shaved for some of his treatments. Looks like he was a sailor before we adopted him! We think the Merchant Marines were more likely than the Dutch Navy.

This one, we knew already.

Carolyn and Farah in 2003, one of our favorite photos. We loved Farah so much, we kind of surprised ourselves.
