The Best Quality Beret on the Market

Difficult to find even in Spain, you have found what I, in my humble opinion, consider to be THE greatest boina, or beret made. This Basque Beret is from the Spanish Basque region, made by Boinas Elósegui, a small family company; one of the last beret makers outside of China. Most berets are 9-10 inches in diameter. This high quality beret is made of a substantial, superior quality black 100% wool that is woven and felted by the beret maker. I have seen and owned a lot of berets over the years and have never found one I would consider equal in quality.A bold statement I know but I have been selling these on ebay for years now and have had nothing but praise; and many reorders.

These berets do not have a leather headband, it uses the beret material as the headband. Why do I like this better than a beret with a leather headband? In a word; comfort. This is a personal preference but I feel these berets fit one's head shape better. Once Stetched to fit your head, the headband doesn't change size (neither stretch nor shrink) or get dry and stiff like a leather band can. They can be stretched to fit even the biggest head size & shape, and fits all but the smallest heads (the headband comes about 6.5 inches in diameter from the factory) making it a great present as there's no guessing on size. It also rolls, or folds, up easy for putting in your pocket or packing. This is one of the few hats I can wear all day, even forgetting it's on my head. I wear my beret year round. It's great in the rain, shades my head in the summer (how they are used in the Basque country). I use to wear it as my bike hat; until the city mandated helmets. Darn! Should you really want a beret with a headband, most any shoe repair shop could add a strip of leather to any of these berets, and the quality of the leather will no doubt be much nicer than what a hat company would offer.

So why is a photographer importing and selling berets? Simple, I enjoy spreading the word about this great beret; I guess it's my hobby. I got started selling berets because years back I lost my beloved beret (same maker), bought in San Sebastian, Spain. After searching high and low for a replacement, even resorting to an expensive French brand, none could repalce what the one I lost. So, I tracked down the company that had made my first beret, bought in bulk and sold the extras on ebay. This lead to me reordering , expanding into other colors and sizes (all suggestions by buyers). Now my berets can be found on happy heads in all corners of the U.S. and the world (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungry, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Netherlands, New Zeland, Norway, , Mexico, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, and even Spain ) and never a complaint about quality. It makes a great gift/

I started just offering a 12.25 inch diameter beret but now offer other beret sizes and colors: The slightly smaller 11 inch still bigger than most hat store berets), the orginal 12.25 inch, now in: Black, Blue, and Red. an even larger 13.5 inch diameter beret (34 cm), and a crazy really big 14.5 incher! These are even more difficult to find and I can almost garantee you will not meet anyone else wearing such berets! The 13.5 and 14.5 inch berets are renaissance artist-type berets. Really big, lots of materal to shape and style.They're also what the Basque cowboys wear to protect themselves from the weather.Due to customer requests, I'm now offering a 10.5" beret as well.

All the berets I sell are made by Boinas Elosegui, of Tolosa, Spain.
The 10, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5. amd 13 inchers are the "Super Luxury", or Super Lujo model. The best they make.
The 11.5 inch brown and Green are the "Fina", a quality step down from the Super Luxury. Still better quality than most berets but it is a bit looser in weave. It's the only way I can get this brown and Basque Green color.
The 13.5 and 14.5 inchers are the "Txapeldun" model. It's the same quality wool as the "Super Luxury" but woven a bit tighter; because of the size.

Sizing:
The berets I sell come from the factory with about a 6" - 6.5" diameter headband.
I include instructions how to stretch the headband to fit the wearer's head. It's easy to do and once stretched stays that size.
Ordering advice: Take a look at the photos before you order, keep in mind even the 11 inch is a bit larger than most berets on the street! Most dime store berets are 10".
Note! , because the berets are hand fnished the headbands sometimes vary from order to order (6" to 7"). If you have a small head, really large head (over 7 3/4 hat size), please contact me so I can advise you. cheers, ron

I personally like the 12 and 12.5 inch but I have a big head and this gives me a bit more fabric to work with.
