Purgatory: A Spinning Coin Game

A guy with two smoking handguns
We were messed up pretty bad, and even though the angel was down for the count, I still felt like we lost. Demonic help is always bad, but when it's unasked for, that's really bad. Now both sides had our number, and we were in no condition to deal with anyone. The car was out of commission, with an angelic scythe right through the engine-block, and there was no way we could get to Vegas by nightfall. At least the demon took off as fast as he had showed up...

"If we're caught out here come nightfall, the black choppers will peg us from miles away. They'll shoot us from so far out, we'll never even hear it coming."

Duke looked up from where he was patching up his arm, squinting into the setting sun. "Yeah, there's no way we can stay out here at night. Maybe we gotta go P-side and walk to Vegas."

"Ah crap." Purgatory is always hot, but if it's hot in the world, it's double-hot in Purgatory. And even without the black choppers, Purgatory can be scary as shit at night. Everyone says Purgatory is deserted, but the whole damn place feels like it's watching you, like a kid watches ants before he stomps em. "Well, if we gotta go, we might as well start now."

A prick of the finger, a dot of blood on the head, and we were standing in the middle of a dry, cracked plain, with the broken, rusting towers of Las Vegas on the horizon. The "sun" had just faded to a dull black, and everything looked sort of like the negative of some bad Western film...

Welcome to Purgatory, the game of pre-apocalyptic conspiracy. You are a Penitent, a person who has died and returned from the grave with bizarre supernatural powers. You're back just in time for the end of the world.

The United Nations has formed UNIPEC, a secret group of dangerous men and black helicopters intent on enslaving the Penitents. The forces of Heaven and Hell are also very interested in these little accidents called Penitents. And your fellow Penitents don't always play nice. On top of all that, the biblical apocalypse should be happening any day now...
