And Yet More MineSweeper Idiocy
a Mac OS X game app

A seething hoard of Minesweeper variants cut a swath across the face of software. Many of them, like this one, are initial learning experiences for aspiring programmers. They are all a little different and yet fundamentally the same.

YMMSI may not be the most evil rendition of the game, but it is probably in the running for most annoying. If you have never played MineSweeper before, this is probably not the place to start. Two important things to know before you even bother to download this app (by clicking on the flag icon): the field wraps around completely (but can be shifted around), with every square bordering on 8 others; and the number "1" does not appear on the field, having the same appearance as a blank square. Wrapping was put in place to reduce the number of incidents where the last click is a 50/50 chance because the edge of the field makes it impossible to tell which square is the mine. Eliminating the ones was simply a way to reduce visual clutter while also encouraging the player to pay a little more attention.

With a few other deviations from MineSweeper tradition and a bevy of amusing or irritating sound effects, this version is both unique and ordinary, a pleasant and potentially aggravating waste of time. Mostly it is just the author's personal work of art, written for a particular style of play. If you have not been warned off at this point, you might be one of the three or four other people who will find this 550K+ download to really be worth it.

AYMMSI was built as a Universal binary for Leopard (10.5) and Tiger (10.4). It may also work in Panther (10.3), this has not been tested yet, but is not compatible with Jaguar (10.2).

This is a beta version. It has not been tested on a variety of platforms and configurations. Use at your own risk.
