8 Day Old Moon - 4/21/2002
Apr 21, 2002 05:36-06:38 UTC - Yet another clear night and a beautiful 8 day moon as well. In this shoot I tried to pay more attention to the luminosity per frame by making sure I was getting the full range of 0 to 255 on the light meter in Vega. I still have to adjust each frame after the fact, but I feel the detail came out nicely. My main disappointment at this point is the way the camera's light collecting really drops off at the terminus. It may be time to upgrade to a better webcam. :) The image was created by stitching together 20 images using Paintshop Pro 7.02. Each image was created by capturing AVIs with a modified old Connectix Color QuickCam and using Vega. I preprocessed each image using Registax, stacking up to 40 frames. The telescope used was a Meade LX-90 (8" SCT, f/10). |
