8 Day Old Moon - 6/4/2003
Jun 8, 2003 05:20-06:08 UTC - For this image, the seeing started out being good to moderate. But, as I was wrapping up imaging the perimeter of the sunlit area, the winds picked up. By the time I finished imaging the middle of the lit area the seeing had plummeted to extremely poor. As a result, the terminus looks really nice, but the middle is rather murky. The image was created by stitching together 32 images using Paintshop Pro 7.04. Each image was created by capturing AVIs with a Philips Vesta 690k and using K3CCDTools. I preprocessed each image using Registax, stacking up to 75 frames. The telescope used was a Meade LX-90 (8" SCT, f/10). |
